City of Glasgow College
GGM Landscaping was entrusted with restoring the 8th-floor rooftop garden at City of Glasgow College, originally designed as part of Sir Robert McAlpine’s initial build. Over time, students had repurposed the space, and the goal was to bring it back to its original design.
Following the initial drawings, our team meticulously reconditioned the landscape, ensuring every detail was restored as intended. Working to a tight timeframe, we carried out the project outside college hours to avoid disruption. Despite the logistical challenge of transporting materials to the 8th floor, we completed the restoration efficiently and without any damage to the building.
The result is a beautifully revived rooftop garden, once again providing a green retreat in the heart of the city.

Bespoke Restoration
This fantastic space was first designed by architect Sir Robert McCalpine, and restoring it in a manner which was faithful to the initial design was a big responsibility. Careful planning and study of the original drawings was required, leaving a spectacular outdoor space for students and staff alike to enjoy.
Flexible Landscaping Services
We pride ourselves on our bespoke service and ability to be flexible to meet the customer’s needs and expectations. This project required work to be completed in a short time frame, outside of college hours, and in a tricky location (8th floor). Despite this, GGM Landscaping exceeded expectations and delivered a fantastic result.
